01 / The studio

A New York agency built around independent retail.
Twelve years in, still picking up the phone.

Beyond Offline was started in 2014 above a hardware store on Lafayette Street by two former shopkeepers and a software engineer. We grew up alongside the SoHo retail scene, and today we're an 80-person studio working with independent and family-owned shops from coast to coast.

We build calm, considered digital storefronts for the kinds of shops you'd cross town for: the bookshop with the cat, the hardware store run by three generations, the bakery that remembers your order. We treat the website like an extension of the shop, not a replacement for it.

We're big enough to handle a 14-store chain's omnichannel rollout and small enough that the partner who pitched you is the one who picks up when something breaks at 9pm on a Saturday.
